Denver Film Festival: The Whiskey Tasting

McNichols Building

11/11/2021 - 11/13/2021

An immersive theatre experience and an actual whiskey tasting, exploring both the history and nuanced varieties of this spirit. But as your bartender begins to divulge details about their own life, you’ll be inspired to toast to the moments that brought you to where you are today.

Masks are required in the building, unless actively eating or drinking at your seat.

ο»ΏIS THIS A WHISKEY TASTING OR A PLAY?
Indeed! It is both.

The Whiskey Tasting was created in the spring of 2019 by director Amanda Berg Wilson and playwright David Jacobi on a commission from DCPA Off-Center. While we presented it as an online immersive experience in the winter of 2021, we’ve returned it to its original iteration: a whiskey tasting for two audience members with one performer/bartender, all in person.

You will sample four actual whiskeys, but also experience an audience-centered immersive theatre experience.

WHAT IS IMMERSIVE THEATRE
Immersive experiences take the audience out of the typical theatre and inside the world of a piece. It’s an experience where you become a part of the story. The Whiskey Tasting invites you to share as well as to witness, so we encourage you to be ready to jump in.

I AM UNDER 21. CAN I SEE THE SHOW?
No. All of our performances are strictly 21+.

I DON’T CONSUME ALCOHOL. CAN I STILL EXPERIENCE THE WHISKEY TASTING?
While the show has been designed around a tasting of four whiskeys, we believe the experience is still one that can be enjoyed without imbibing. We do not have a non-alcoholic pairing, but do provide water you may sip as you experience the show.

WHAT ABOUT COVID?
This is an in-person experience, and all performers are vaccinated and will be tested for COVID-19 in the 48 hours prior to the weekend of performances. All audience members must be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. We have taken additional precautions to minimize the risk in participating in the experience. Audience members will serve their own whiskey from a pre-packaged flight, and will be seated distanced from one another if they are not of the same household. Between showings, the performance area will be thoroughly sanitized.

Please do not enter festival venues if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

πŸ“› PROOF OF VACCINATION
All Denver Film Festival patrons, guests, media, sponsors, staff, and volunteers entering DFF44 venues or event host sites from November 3-14 will be required to show proof that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with an FDA- or WHO-approved vaccine. “Fully vaccinated” is defined as two weeks after a person’s second dose in a two-dose series and two weeks after a single-dose series.

Children under the age of 12 must instead provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of a screening or event start time.

🚩 VERIFICATION STATIONS
Verification Stations will be available at all venues and event host sites 90 minutes prior to a screening or event start time. You will need to bring one of the following and a photo ID to be verified:

πŸ“ Physical vaccination card

πŸ–Ί Digital proof of vaccination card (photo or scan) that is clear and legible

Or, if under the age of 12: Negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of screening or event

Once verified, attendees will receive a durable wristband that can be worn throughout DFF44. If the wristband is lost or damaged, please visit a Verification Station to show proof according to the guidelines above, and you will receive a new wristband.
