Civic Center MOVES
Free M-Th fitness classes year-round
Civic Center MOVES is a free fitness series for all fitness levels produced year-round by the nonprofit Civic Center Conservancy. From late-April through mid-October, the classes are all outdoors in the park. From mid-October through April, four of the five weekly classes take place inside the McNichols Building in Civic Center's NW corner, thanks to support from Denver Arts & Venues.
To keep up with any schedule/location adjustments, please follow Civic Center MOVES on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CivicCenterMOVES. There will be no classes October 31, November 24 or December 26-29.
All particpants in Civic Center MOVES classes will be required to sign a waiver the first time they attend a class. Waivers will be available on-site, but you can also download one HERE. Please note that restrooms are available inside the McNichols Building, but there are no lockers.
SCHEDULE & CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Monday Evenings (6:00 - 7:00 p.m.): Yoga with Fold Yoga
This all-levels yoga class will get your body moving and breath flowing while enjoying Denver's beautiful summer nights. This class is supportive to beginners and creative and engaging for more experienced practitioners. Start your week off right by connecting to yourself and your community!
Tuesday Lunchtimes (12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.): Full-Body Workout with Pearl Street Fitness
Progress at your own pace through a series of strength, conditioning, and cardio blasts that will balance your body, rev up your metabolism and leave you feeling uplifted. All levels welcome.
Wednesday Mornings (6:15 a.m. -7:00 a.m.) Year-Round: Free Fitness Tribe with November Project-Denver
Civic Center: Alternates between the Greek Theater and the Capitol Steps
November Project is a free, grassroots, fitness tribe aimed at building community that relies on the accountability of our members to show up each morning regardless of the weather conditions or their busy schedules. Our exercise routines are scalable in order to allow us to bring people of all shapes, sizes, and athletic abilities together in the same venue to run, climb, and burpee at their own pace. In 45-minutes, we get in a tough workout, meet new friends and set a positive tone for the day ahead.
NEW CLASS: Wednesday Lunchtimes (12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.): Athlete Strong w/ Bodies by Perseverance
To excel in any sport or workout, power and speed must be incorporated for an athlete to move explosively through space. By training to be strong, fast and capable of maintaining a high level of strength or power output for an extended period, you will develop a lean and muscular body. In this class, there will be speed, agility, conditioning and strength moves which include bodyweight, ladders, drills, boxing and core.
Thursday Lunchtimes (11:00 a.m. -12 noon): Yoga Cross w/ The River and Fitness in the City
Yoga Cross is a dynamic combination of functional fitness and yoga all in one hour. Participants will complete 30 minutes of functional fitness training followed by 30 minutes of power vinyasa yoga. Yoga Cross will elevate your heart-rate, strengthen your body, and bring balance to mind and spirit. All levels welcome. This unique class format is a collaboration between Fitness in the City and The River Power Vinyasa Yoga.
Civic Center MOVES Fitness Providers:
Fold Yoga is Denver's only donation-based, pop-up class format yoga studio - offering pop-up classes in the Denver area at various restaurants, breweries, shared work spaces and fitness studios. Fold believes yoga should be available to everyone. Fold's intention is powered by the belief that yoga provides awareness, connection with self and community, and true transformation.
Pearl Street Fitness
Featured as one of Denver's "best-kept fitness secrets" and a "fitness hot spot," Pearl Street Fitness offers boutique-sized locations loaded with personality. Fresh full-body workouts served daily will keep your mind and body guessing, so you'll never get bored. A fun, people-driven brand workout experience that carries the pulse of the local neighborhood and is building a movement of Strong. Confident. People. Small class sizes of 8-14 people. Over 100 classes to choose from weekly in three Denver locations: Washington Park, Cherry Creek, and Highlands.
November Project – Denver
The November Project was started in Boston and has spread to 15 cities across North America. It is a grassroots, free fitness movement with a focus on building community and friendships.
Bodies by Perseverance
For more than 13 years, Bodies by Perseverance has been known for its expertise, motivating, fun and result-driven programs. The trainers called Body Designers encompass personal training/fitness/nutrition programs, boxing and performance sportscare. Highly recognized for expertise in complex and athletic training, BBP trains former/current professional athletes, gym rats and people who have never set foot in a gym. BBP's philosophy is to use a variety of weight training, explosive movements and strength techniques - providing a unique "no cookie-cutter" workout experience so you won't see the same workout twice to get you your results.
The River Power Vinyasa Yoga
The River is a uniquely beautiful, locally-owned, yoga studio in the heart of Denver. Our mission is to provide exceptional yoga experiences, educational programs, intentional partnerships and a hOMe where community and individuals are encouraged to live into their fullest potential. Classes at The River are a balance between physical challenge and mindfulness. We strive to make yoga accessible to everyone in our community…young and old, experienced and novices. Weekly classes formats include power vinyasa yoga (heated and not), gentle yoga, Yoga Cross (functional fitness and yoga), Align+ Burn (yoga with weights) and kid yoga.
Fitness in The City
Prepare to join the most ENERGETIC and MOTIVATING fitness movement in Denver. Come experience a variety of total body group workouts including calisthenics, plyometrics, strength, and cardiovascular training. As a member of our community, you can also discover popular classes such as: Zumba, Body Combat, and MMA conditioning.
