In 1915, the United States Congress established Rocky Mountain National Park, the country's 10th national park. In 2014, painter Trine Bumiller was chosen as the park’s artist-in-residence, where she spent the summer documenting the spectacular landscape that has influenced her for the past 25 years. In the exhibition 100 Paintings for 100 Years the artist commemorates the 100th anniversary of Rocky Mountain National Park by showcasing 100 paintings from her immersive residency experience. The panel paintings, inspired by both nature and the artist's emotional and philosophical responses to her environment, depict plant life, geology, water, and weather in abstract yet still recognizable images. The number of panels allow for a collage of perspectives focusing on different viewpoints to create a true portrait of the landscape as experience.
